1. How do I apply?
Groups who would like to take part must submit their application either by post to Awards for All, 1 Atlantic Quay, 1 Robertson Street, Glasgow G2 8JB, to arrive no later than 24th May, or by handing it in to one of our team at the Gathering by 10am on the 25th of May. The sooner you get your application in the better, as we will be able to check it over and ensure quicker access to the public vote. Groups can contact the Big Lottery Fund on 0870 240 2391 in advance of the event to discuss their ideas.

If we receive your form before the 25th, we will contact you to confirm receipt and advise your group of where they should be on the day.

2. Where do I get an application form?
The application form is the existing Awards for All application form, but you should tell us in a covering letter that you wish to take part in the Gathering event.

Applications forms can be downloaded from the ‘How to Apply’ section of this website.   Hardcopies can be requested from our distribution office on 0845 600 2040; please ask for an Awards for All Scotland pack.

3. Where will we need to be on the 25th of May?
The Gathering takes place at the SECC in Glasgow from 24th – 26th May 2007. Members of our team will be at the Big Lottery Fund stand throughout the event.

For general information on the Gathering, please contact Alex Thomson at SCVO on 0131 474 6152.

4. How are the winners decided?
Projects from designated regions will be presented to the public at the Gathering. Members of the public will be able to vote for projects at one of the voting booths around the venue.

The winners of the public vote will be the projects with the most votes on the day.

5. If I am successful, when will the award be made?
Grants will be paid within 7 days, subject to sufficient checks.

6. How much can I apply for?
Groups can apply for up to £10,000.

7. What kind of project can we apply for?
Awards for All can fund a wide variety of costs, ranging from publicity materials to venue hire to purchase of equipment. Our focus is on one-off costs, for example, the costs associated with putting on an event or publishing a booklet.

It could be a project tackling racial harassment, an oral history project exploring past experiences, or an arts group that wants to make a film about the issue of human rights. Equally it could be an older people’s club in Aberdeen that might want to visit another part of Scotland to understand its links to the slave trade. Whatever your idea, we want to hear from you!

8. What kind of groups can apply?
Awards for All is open to applications from voluntary and community groups and statutory organisations.

We want to hear from groups that want to connect their lives, experiences and learning with this historically significant event. There is potential for a diversity of groups to receive funding, including community groups, sports clubs, arts clubs, heritage societies and a whole lot more.

Awards for All does not fund individuals, or certain profit-making companies.

9. When does the project have to take place?
The grant must be spent within 12 months.
