"Engaging with these young people in this way was something we could never have achieved without Awards for All funding"

The Moray Arts Centre develops an outreach service targeting young people in rural communities with help from Awards for All.
The Moray Arts Centre in Findhorn is the long-held vision of artist Randy Klinger. Set up 11 years ago the centre has become a hub of community activity with a stimulating environment for the visual arts.
In March 2007 Awards for All enabled Randy and his team to develop an outreach service encouraging young people in rural communities to participate in art activities.
"People might not realise it but there is a lot of hidden poverty in Moray", said Randy. "Our aim with this outreach service was to reach out to young people with a wide variety of needs, including those with learning difficulties and mental health issues and those from disadvantaged backgrounds."
"We consulted hundreds of young people over a 40 mile radius across Moray and asked them how we could make creative arts more easily available to them. Thanks to our Awards for All grant of £5,000 we were able to sit down with these young people to help them complete questionnaires and to take part in focus groups and evening events to help shape a service that would fit their purposes."
The result was a series of workshops in community venues enabling young people to take part in a range of activities including getting involved in the creative process of film making.
"Engaging with these young people in this way was something we could never have achieved without Awards for All funding", said Randy.
