What we will fund

Here are some projects that Awards for All England might support:

  • a crèche for a rural community
  • publicising and promoting a group that recycles computers for the community to use
  • a training and activities programme to involve more disabled people in sport
  • a creative writing skills course for young adults, to enable their work to be published and performed
  • an exhibition and trail walk featuring buildings of local historical interest
  • play and sports facilities with qualified coaching for young people on an urban estate
  • promoting healthy eating and greater physical activity
  • creating a community wildlife garden
  • introducing people to alternative cultures through participation in storytelling and drama
  • improving a village hall to provide better facilities for all members of the community
  • a telephone helpline offering advice and support for people with cancer and their carers
  • an historic pageant illustrating various periods of history and the rich cultural heritage of a community
  • getting more people involved in a community carnival.

Here are some of the things that a grant could be spent on:

  • computers
  • educational toys and games
  • feasibility studies (except for building projects that are likely to cost more than £25,000 including VAT)
  • fees to hire equipment
  • materials for use in the project, for example, arts and crafts materials
  • musical instruments
  • professional fees
  • publicity materials
  • refurbishment
  • sessional staff
  • sports equipment
  • training
  • transport costs
  • updating equipment for health and safety reasons
  • venue hire
  • volunteers’ expenses.
