Giving children and young people greater access to sport and recreation.

The school applied for an award to raise the profile of after school sport for girls. The school was awarded £5,000 towards the purchase of sports and fitness equipment, professional coaching and the staging of a cricket festival and a football tournament. As a result of this award, the profile of girls PE within the school has been raised significantly and links with local clubs developed.

The school said: “this award has given students a unique opportunity to play sport regularly. It has increased extra-curricular participation across a whole range of sports including football, cricket, basketball, table tennis, fitness, gymnastics and trampolining.”
